About
Tina is a New York–based fashion designer and consultant with six years of experience shaping product across Calvin Klein, Theory, Willy Chavarria, Derek Lam, Rhone, and ATM, Steve Madden. Her work spans advanced contemporary womenswear and menswear, performance sport, eveningwear, and lingerie – a breadth that has taught her how differently a garment behaves depending on who it's for and where it's headed.
She trained at Parsons School of Design, Central Saint Martins, and LaSalle College of the Arts, an education that took her from Singapore to New York to London and back, and left her equally fluent in concept and construction. That range shows up in how she works now: equally comfortable sketching a first idea and sitting with a factory floor manager to solve a fit issue an ocean away from where the idea was born.
Regular travel to mills in Italy and factories across Asia has made her fluent in the realities of production — lead times, minimums, fabric behavior, the small compromises that keep a collection on schedule without dulling its intent. It's this fluency, on both sides of the process, that Tina Ma Studio is built around: a practice that treats creative direction and production reality as one continuous conversation, not two departments that occasionally meet.
For brands, that means a design partner who can carry a concept all the way to a finished, sellable product. For students and emerging designers, it means a mentor who can teach the parts of the industry that design school rarely covers — how to brief a factory, how to read a tech pack, how to hold onto a vision once production gets involved.
